Masked Wuhan Residents Fill Wuhan’s Streets as 76-Day Lockdown Ends
Wuhan, China, ended its 76-day lockdown on Wednesday, as hordes of masked, elated residents flooded the streets of the city where the coronavirus pandemic is believed to have originated. “Being indoors for so long drove me crazy,” Tong Zhengkun told the AP, while Wang Chun added, “I’m so happy Wuhan has defeated this virus.”
Long lines formed at airport, train and bus stations in the city of 11 million, as thousands rushed to return to their jobs and homes elsewhere.
