EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Authorities in Oregon say they assisted two kayakers Sunday after the pair flipped their boats on the South Santiam River.

The Register-Guard reports the kayakers were cold but did not need medical attention.

Officials with the Sweet Home Fire District say rescuers responded to the scene about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Responders used a rescue jet boat to reach one of the victims, who was clinging to a small fallen tree in the middle of the river.

Responders say the other kayaker got back into her boat and made it to the riverbank.

Both kayakers were wearing life jackets.
