PORTLAND, Ore– One day after homeless were evicted from the outer perimeter of Lone Fir Cemetery, vandals toppled over tombstones and in some cases smashed them. Metro who oversees the cemetery tells KXL, “We’re in the process of assessing the damage.”
The cemetery takes up about 30 acres on the Eastside of Portland. It borders SE Stark right across the Street from Central Catholic High School. 25 thousand people are buried there.
It’s not clear if homeless returned to the area angry over having to leave, or if kids decided to deface the grave sites.
