Say bye-bye to those insta-famous shoe pictures on the Portland International Airport carpet. Concourse A, where the last of the classic PDX carpet could be found by travelers, closed Thursday for demolition.

Concourse A will be torn down so Concourse B can be expanded.

Concourse A was originally built only to act as a temporary structure in 1988, but has lasted 31 years at the Portland International Airport.

The Concourse B renovation are underway and are projected to be done in the summer of 2021.

As for the PDX carpet, the last remaining strip in Concourse A will go in the demolition process.
