Second Assassination Attempt On President Trump’s Life Thwarted
Authorities provided new details of what the FBI says is another attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on Sunday near his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
U.S. Secret Service agents posted a few holes up from where Trump was playing and saw the muzzle of an AK-style rifle sticking through the shrubbery, roughly 400 yards away. The agent fired and the gunman dropped the rifle and fled leaving two backpacks, a scope and a GoPro camera behind. Another witness captured a picture of the suspect’s car and license plate, which led to authorities pulling him over and taking him into custody.
In an email to supporters, Trump said: “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” He wrote: “Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!”
