Portland, Or. – Oregon veterans are being honored on this Veteran’s Day in a number of ways. Admission  is free at the Oregon Zoo today for veterans and their families. Admission is free for everyone at the Oregon Historical Society where the  exhibit, Fighting For The Right To Fight: African American Experiences in World War II, is on display.

The 142nd Fighter Wing based at the Portland Air National Guard Base will conduct Veterans Day flyovers for ceremonies at locations throughout the state.

A Veteran’s Day parade in Portland’s Hollywood District kicks off at 9:30am. This is the 45th year for the parade.

A number of  restaurants are offering veterans a free meal today. They include Applebee’s, Olive Garden, Chili’s, Red Robin, Denny’s, IHOP and Krispy Creme.

Starbucks is also honoring veterans, active duty service members, and military spouses this year for Veterans Day by offering a free coffee.
