Portland, Ore. – A dead body was found Monday morning at the Oregon Zoo inside the construction site of a new rhino habitat. The habitat did not have any animals inside. Officers located the body of 62 year old Carl Ross Sr, however the manner and cause of death has not be determined. Ross was reported missing on Saturday.

On Monday, August 12, 2019 at 9:49a.m., Central Precinct Officers responded to the Oregon Zoo located at 4001 Southwest Canyon Road on a report of a deceased male in the construction site of a new rhino habitat.

Officers learned that the rhino habitat was still under construction and did not have any animals inside. The Medical Examiner responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The cause and manner of death has not been determined at this time. The deceased person was identified as 62-year-old Carl Stanley Ross Sr. and the next of kin has been notified. Investigators learned that Ross was reported missing on August 10, 2019.
