OSU Student Says She Was Arrested Because Of Color
Corvallis, Ore. — A leader of the NAACP calls a recent arrest in Corvallis, a case of “bicycling while Black.” A Corvallis Police officer and an Oregon State Trooper now face accusations of excessive force and racial profiling. This comes after the arrest of an OSU student. Police footage shows the officer explaining the arrest. He stopped 21 year old Genesis Hanson while he says she was riding the wrong way on the street. But she pushed back when he asked for I.D. After a warning, video shows two officers pushing her down. NAACP Corvallis Albany President Angel Harris defends her. Regional NAACP leader E.D. Modinay calls it a case, of bicycling while Black. Police have yet not responded to Fm News 101 KXL’s request for comment.
