Nike Says They’ve Run Out of All Kobe Bryant Merchandise
A spokesman for Nike told CBS MoneyWatch on Tuesday that the company has completely run out of Kobe Bryant-related merchandise, including jerseys, shoes, t-shirts, and more, CBS News reports. The spokesman disputed rumors that they’d removed Bryant merchandise, but could not say when they expect Bryant merchandise to be available again. The NBA team shop has also struggled to keep up with demand for Bryant’s jersey, which sells for $300.
A sports business professor at the University of Southern California said the company is in a unique spot, adding that they need to offer new gear soon enough to satisfy demand, but not so soon that they appear to be profiting off Bryant’s death.
