Newlyweds Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are sharing all the details of their double wedding with People magazine. The two wed this past weekend in both a Hindu ceremony and a Christian ceremony in Jodhpur, India.
On Friday, November 30, the couple and their 225 guests celebrated at a Mehendi ceremony, where they both received henna tattoos. That night, they had a Sangeet ceremony, where both families performed musical numbers, complete with costumes and choreography. On December 1, they had their Western ceremony at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace, and Nick’s pastor father officiated.
According to People, Priyanka wore a Ralph Lauren gown with a 75-foot long veil, and carried a bouquet of tuberoses, her favorite flower. She tells People, “It was all tears…I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened, and I saw his face it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life.”
Nick, who also wore Ralph Lauren, agrees that “the emotions were running high during the ceremonies, I think especially during the Western wedding for me.” He adds, “You know you think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional.”
On Sunday, there was a Hindu ceremony, where Priyanka wore a red sari and Nick wore a traditional Indian outfit, including a turban.
“I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up,” says Priyanka. “We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalized them in a way that made sense for us.”
