Mayor Ted Wheeler said the riot in downtown Portland, protesting the death of George Floyd, was “unconscionable.”

The mayor continued to share his frustrations as he said,  “What I see here does not honor in any way the legacy of George Floyd.” Wheeler did acknowledge what he calls a  “beautiful and heartfelt” gathering by the NAACP that took place earlier.

When asked if he’ll advocate for aggressive prosecution of rioters, Wheeler replied, “Damn right.”
