Man Surprises His Dad With The 1967 Camaro He Sold For Diapers Decades Ago
Jared Guynes just spent a few years on a project he knew his dad deserved. His dad, Earl Guynes, had a prized 1967 Camaro that he sold 41 years ago to pay for diapers when Jared and his sister were little.
Earl was 22 when he bought his dream car, saying “The car was loud and people would kind of always be looking at you and you’d always see somebody side eyeing like see that car come down the street. It was just a cool thing, a fun thing to do, you know?” Earl would often tell Jared about his cool car he had back in the day, but Jared just thought it was all talk. “I thought he was full of it because that’s exactly what a guy in a tank top and a minivan would tell you. Like, ‘This is not normal. I’m in this minivan because of the circumstances. I used to have a Camaro.’ I’m like, ‘Mmhmm. I used to have a Camaro.’ It’s like the guy at the bar talking about the high school championship or something.” But as he got older, he realized the sacrifice his dad made in giving that up.
So after a good business year, Jared launched his mission to track down dad’s beloved Camaro but it wasn’t easy. There was no proof of sale because he sold it for cash, so he looked for a year all over the country until getting a lead in 2022. There was a Marino blue ’67 Camaro that matched the description Earl always gave about 70 miles but needed a lot of TLC. So for two years, Jared gave it that TLC working to restore it for the big reveals at dad’s 65th birthday party. He even got a magician to help with the surprise, and it brought dad to tears! Here’s the surprise!
