Man Arrested, Accused Of Setting Homeless Person’s Tent And Belongings On Fire
Portland, Ore. — A Portland man has been arrested, accused starting a tent fire on August 15th.
Portland Fire and Rescue say 44-year old Roy Elworthy intentionally set a houseless person’s tent and belongings on fire in a lot near SE 136th and Powell. The tent and the person’s belongings were destroyed. Investigators say it was reported that earlier that day a man living nearby told a group of people in the lao that if they did not move, he would set their things on fire.
Elworthy is charged with Reckless Burning, and could be sentenced to about a year in jail.
