PORTLAND, Ore. — The cameras on the Interstate Bridge connecting Oregon and Washington on I-5 are offline as the Oregon Department of Transportation awaits replacement parts.
The cameras are about 25-years-old and they’re starting to fail due to age and vibrations. The shaking and rattling of traffic on the bridge wears out the cameras quicker than others.
Parts are on order and ODOT hopes to get the cameras back up and running by the end of the month.
There is no word just yet how much it will cost to replace the system. Officials will be looking into some alternatives that make economic sense.
