Columbia County, Ore. – ODOT has closed Highway 30 in St Helens between MP 35 and 36 due to an ongoing police investigation by St. Helens PD. We have reached out to police to find out what’s happening. KXL listeners are calling and emailing the newsroom saying they’ve been stuck in the traffic backup for at least 20 to 30 minutes. We’re hearing via emergency radio scanners that there may have been a suspect shooting at cars, and was chased by police. We’re also hearing that suspect may have been hit and killed by a car on the highway. That has not been confirmed by police yet. Check back for updates on this developing story.

Sounds like there was a pursuit earlier on Hwy 30. Started in St Helens, ended at Deer Island.
Per Columbia County Community Facebook pages he was shooting at cars.
Apparently suspect got out of his vehicle, then was hit by another vehicle.#pdxtraffic pic.twitter.com/Prza8ztsq2
