When traversing the waters of newly released music, it can be overwhelming and down right difficult to keep yourself afloat. Luckily, there are countless platforms at our fingertips that allow us to easily maintain a direct connection to the content of our favorite artists and creators without much effort. Check out five helpful resources below!
#1: Streaming Playlists – Playlist curators tend to be on the front lines of music releases since most artists will try to have a popular playlist (think New Music Friday) add their song to rotation to help garner early streaming momentum. This leads to certain releases being dropped exclusively on streaming platforms like Spotify or YouTube channels like “Trap Nation”.
#2: Hype Machine – Hype Machine compiles hundreds of music blogs and collects their latest posts for easy streaming and discovery. Content that is repeatedly saved or liked will end up on their “Popular” tab for easy viewing and artist that are posted the most throughout the week are also spotlighted.
#3: iTunes Charts – Any record that is making serious waves in the industry will undoubtedly find itself somewhere on the iTunes top sales chart at one point or another. Though this is more of a spotlight on sales, it still helps to know what songs you should pay attention to and which are making a large market impact.
#4: Reddit – Forum based website “Reddit” is a treasure trove of information. With their music specific “subreddits” like /r/hiphopheads and /r/popmusic you can keep up to date with the hottest releases and learn how other people are connection with the music via their comment section.
#5: Live 95.5- Radio ain’t dead, folks! Here at Live 95.5 we are constantly updating our music schedule with the newest music as soon as it is made available. It’s very common for one of us at the station to “spike” in a new song the night it is released so our listeners can hear the freshest records with the least amount of headaches.
Hopefully these tips will help you never miss a song again!
