Canby High School Marching Band Misses Parade But Marches Anyway
Canby, Or. – The Canby High School Marching Band never made it to the Rose Festival Starlight Parade Saturday because its bus never arrived. The bus company says it never got the request. The school district says it’s investigating to see what happened.
Band Director Nick Lucherhand had the band perform in the high school parking lot instead. Someone has now posted a video of the performance on youtube. He told KGW it was a teaching moment and that you have to make the best of a situation when life doesn’t deal you a good hand of cards.
The Rose Festival heard about what happened and has invited the band to march in the Grand Floral Parade this weekend. Lucherhand says he’ll check with the school administration, parents and kids to see if they can accept the invitation.
