Now that Ava Max‘s breakthrough single, “Sweet but Psycho,” has become a global hit and she’s just released the follow-up, “So Am I,” an album can’t be far behind. Ava tells Billboard that her debut project will feature songs with a number of different moods.
In addition to “Sweet but Psycho,” “So Am I” and another song, called “Salt,” Ava says the as-yet untitled album will also include “some other tracks on there that are like wild cards,” as well as “a few that I’m being vulnerable in.”
But, she adds, “You will hear the anthemic pop songs that you have heard [from me]… Female empowerment is very strong in my life and that’s how I am. I’m a very outspoken person and it shows in my music, especially my lyrics and in the album.”
Ava — who cites Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, The Fugees. Beyoncé and Gwen Stefani as her main influences — says she’s excited to perform some select concerts in the next few months.
“I just want them to experience the songs in a way they haven’t experienced listening to it,” she says of her fans. “Each song is going to definitely give them a different visual onstage.”
As for the album, Ava says she’d like to release it at some point this year. Stay tuned.
