Auburn Tigers Take Over Morrison Bridge For A Good Cause
Portland, Ore. — If you drive across the Williamette river the after the sun goes down, you may notice the lights on the Morrison Bridge are blue and orange. Those just happen to be the colors of the Auburn Tigers who take on the Oregon Ducks as both teams open the 2019 college football season.
The Pacific Northwest Auburn Club paid Multnomah County a fee to change the lights to their team’s colors in advance of the big game. The same thing happened in 2010, the only other time the two teams have met. That time was in the National Championship game, Auburn won that game.
This time there is an alternative motive. It’s a fundraiser for the Oregon Food Bank. The Auburn supporters have challenged Duck Fans to help raise $10,000 for the Food Bank. If that happens before kick off Saturday, the bridge will be split. One end will be Auburn colors while the other will be the well known green and yellow.
