Remember last year when Ariana Grande got into a Twitter feud with British journalist Piers Morgan over female pop stars’ right to be naked? Well, Ariana and Piers have now buried the hatchet, thanks to a random meet-up in Los Angeles.
Alongside a selfie of himself with Ariana, Piers wrote, “So… we bumped into each other in a LA restaurant, she joined me for ‘a chat’ & 2 hours later we were still chatting. We laughed, we argued, she cried, I nearly did, the drinks flowed & we bonded. Turns out we really like each other. Weird. Thank u @ArianaGrande — next?”
He added, “Thank u for a great night @ArianaGrande.”
Ari replied, “thank u for some laughs and some v productive conversation! it was nice bumping into u!” She added the hashtags #FutureFeministPiers and #FingersCrossed.
Explaining to a fan why she even talked to Morgan, Ari wrote, “well…we bumped into each other at a restaurant. and i decided to sit with him and we spoke for a while. i think some progress was made! turns out face to face discussions are a bit kinder and gentler, even if you do indeed disagree. :).”
Ariana and Morgan’s original feud happened in November, when he criticized the British girl group Little Mix for posing naked on their single artwork. After Ari’s Joan mom called him out, Morgan replied, “I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity. As your own daughter does…!”
Ariana then jumped in and wrote, “I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because i choose to. women can be sexual AND talented…it’s OUR choice…”
She added, “i look forward to the day you realize there are other ways to go about making yourself relevant than to criticize young, beautiful, successful women.”
