After getting dragged for her mink fur faux pas, Kylie Jenner donates $1 million to Australian fire relief
Patrick Honan/iStock(LOS ANGELES) — Kylie Jenner is putting her money where her mouth is after a cringe-worthy faux pas painted an incredible target on her back a few days ago.
To back things up, the beauty mogul on Sunday publicly mourned the half-billion animals that perished in the Australian wildfires. The next photo in her Instagram stories, however, carried a completely different tune that many found tone deaf.
It celebrated her new pink pedicure, which also featured her wearing $1,500 Louis Vuitton mink fur slippers.
Obviously, that didn’t sit well with fans who promptly accused the 22-year-old of hypocrisy.
Now, People confirms that, despite the fallout, Jenner quietly pledged a million dollars to various Australian wildfire relief efforts.
An insider revealed exactly what inspired the Kylie Cosmetics mogul to make such a sizeable donation. “That post was completely unintentional. Kylie stands behind her desire to want to help provide relief towards the devastation the fires have caused,” the source told People.
Jenner is one of many celebrities who have donated to Australian fire relief funds. Both Chris Hemsworth and Elton John donated a million each on Monday. Other celebrities like Pink, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Ellen DeGeneres and others have also contributed to relief efforts.
As of Tuesday, the wildfires across Australia have killed 25 people and destroyed over 2,000 homes. The flames are expected to grow worse in the coming days as temperatures continue to rise.
