A Really Big Deal: What Perseverance Just Did With Oxygen On Mars

The Perseverance rover seems to be having a good run on Mars.

This week, the rover successfully converted some of the plentiful carbon dioxide on the red planet into oxygen as the first test of its MOXIE instrument.

After warming up for about two hours, MOXIE produced 5.4 grams of oxygen — enough to sustain an astronaut for about 10 minutes.

If this experiment continues to work, it could assist with human exploration of Mars in the future.

If you got the chance to travel to Mars (keep in mind it took Perseverance 7 months to get there), what 3 things would you absolutely have to take with you?
