Drunk At The Olympics..Doesnt Mean You Can Compete In The 100M Sprint Final!!
So, getting hammered at the Olympics doesnt then mean you can believe you're cool enough to compete in the mens 100M sprint final..!
The gentleman, later revealed to be 34 yr old Ashley Gill-Webb, then was dealt the worst blow of bad luck as he pushed his way through the barriers and onto the track.. He was unlucky enough to then run into a woman judo champion, who told today how she tackled a drunken yob who allegedly threw a beer bottle at Usain Bolt as the 100 metres final got under way.
Dutch athlete Edith Bosch said she was so angry she hit the man before he was dragged from the Olympic stadium by stewards.
She wrote on Twitter: “A drunken guest throws a bottle on the track! I have beaten him .... unbelievable! ” She added: “I also missed the 100m! grrrrrrr.”
Witnesses said the spectator, in the seats closest to the athletes as they lined up, had been shouting abuse long before the race began but stewards ignored complaints.
After pushing his way through to the barrier, he threw a plastic beer bottle onto the track, just missing the runners, a second before the starting pistol was fired. Games chief Lord Coe said it was “poetic justice” that the troublemaker was punched by Bosch who won a bronze medal at London and is also world judo champion.
He said: “I’m not suggesting vigilantism but it was actually poetic justice that they happened to be sitting next to a judo player,” adding: “Throwing a bottle on to the field of play is unacceptable.”
