Britney Spears signs on to ‘X Factor’

Rumors have swirled about the singer joining the Fox singing competition, but today E! reports that Spears will be paid between $15 and $16 million to join Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on the judging panel for the show’s next season, set to premiere in early fall.
Brit will replace one of two open seats on the bench left by outgoing judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. Presently, the fourth judge slot has not yet been signed, but the main rumor for that second seat is Demi Lavoto. Another spot that has not been filled yet is a host for Steve Jones.
